A perfect getaway for nature lovers as you get to witness lush green mountains on one side and a beach on another and delicious seafood at your disposal. Perfect for the low budget vacation and full value for your money. A great place to spend a day or entire weekend. It does not disappoint.
The Beaches I am talking about are Kashid and Murud that are located little south of Mumbai. Let's look at them one by one.
Kashid Beach
Kashid is located on the northern Konkan coast of Maharashtra. Kashid is the perfect place to witness dual views as you will see lush green mountains on one side and sea on another. You will witness some great views on the way to the beach. It is an accessible beach as you have perfect roads leading up to it.
Kashid is perfectly placed beside the Sahyadri range. Its setting and perfect roads set you up for a great bike or car ride. Once you reach the beach you will see upraised land with tall trees on one side and the sea on the other side.
There are a lot of food stalls with enough changing rooms. So eat there if you are hungry before enjoying the beach. Once all that is done just get into your beach wears and get right into it. Beaches are clean and have white sand. Water is cleaner than you would expect on an Indian beach. There are a lot of water sports available.
Finally, it's time to leave everything behind and just surrender yourself to nature amid the sound of the waves, wind and trees howling. Few hours would just pass by in a matter of minutes.

Best time to Visit
The best time to visit would be after the Monsoon season i.e. anywhere from October to March. The reason being Monsoon brings cyclone and heavy rain associated with it. October to March would provide you with pleasant weather conditions and offer you a more enjoyable and joyful trip.
Morning and evenings are the perfect time to visit the beach.
How far is it and the Best ways to get here?
Kashid beach is 32 KM from Alibaug town and 125 KM south of Mumbai. You should definitely visit Kashid beach if you are planning to go to Alibaug. Also, Pune is just 170 KM away.
The best way to get there would be your personal or rented vehicle. MSRTC buses also run on that route for the locals to commute.
Murud is just 15 KM ahead of Kashid beach. Just follow the straight road taken till now and you will make it to the Murud beach as well.

Murud is a small isolated town on the sea-facing side of the Sahyadri range, in fact, you have to cross few small hills to get there. It depends on tourism for its economy. You will find a lot of seas facing hotels or guesthouses at affordable prices. A great place to stay for a couple of days and explore nearby areas.
Murud beach is unfathomable and serene with the beautiful picturesque setting. Just the feeling of getting up in the morning and going to the beach for a stroll is inexplicable. All kinds of water sports are available and also start very early. Here you will find soft black sand.
During the nighttime, you can clearly hear the sound of waves reaching your hotel rooms. This will make you feel much more relaxed and make the stay much more joyful.
There are a handful of hotels and stalls that provides the best possible seafood. From snacks to main courses you will find a lot of options to eat there.

1. Murud Janjira fort - The fort is situated on an island off the coastal town of Murud. Janjira is considered one of the strongest marine forts in India. The only way to commute is by Boat.
2. Garambi Falls - The thunderous fall amid the forest is one of the best places to visit in Murud. At a height of 100m, these falls thunder in full glory during Monsoons.
3. Ahmedganj Palace - Built in a mixture of Mughal and Gothic-style architecture, it is an elegant mansion that once housed the Royal Nawabs. The massive complex covers an area of almost 45 acres.
